My Work
See my healthcare and medical content in action with examples of articles I’ve written below. I’ve tried to include links where possible (unless the titles are behind paywalls).
Doctors.net.uk – news, features & Analysis
I regularly contribute news, analysis and deep dives for this GP-focused site. Examples of issues I’ve covered recently include why abuse at home is harder to spot for doctors (because it’s normalised at work), and what’s been done to tackle the newly qualified doctors recruitment crisis.
Hospital Healthcare Europe – NEWS & features
I’ve written interview-led features on leading consultant specialists to highlight their research and career highlights for this popular Cogora site. They have worked in fields such as radiology, respiratory, haematology, rheumatology and medical microbiology. I also write clinical research news and study summary reports for HHE.
Medscape – news, Features & Analysis
I’m a regular writer for Medscape UK (and sometimes Medscape Global) and much of my work is aimed at the site’s GP audience. Examples of what I’ve covered recently include why one child waited a decade for an ARFID diagnosis, when cancer is missed in learning disability care, and how doctors are tackling vaccine hesitancy.
RARE REVOLUTION INSIDER – deep dives & conference reports
This title for healthcare and industry professionals working in the rare disease space has a wide remit that I enjoy writing across. My work for the site includes key interviews with organisations such as the MHRA on their plans to transform regulatory approaches for rare diseases in the UK, what China’s DeepSeek could mean for rare disease, and genomics and clinical trials conference features.
Community Practitioner
I’ve written clinical features for this award-winning journal for health visitors, school nurses, community nurses and nursery nurses. For example, living with lipoedema, ADHD (the hungry brain), and osteoporosis (the silent disease).
Be Healthy
I’m a regular contributor to this popular consumer health title. My features have included 19 ways to boost your energy levels, shake it up (your fitness regime), good health all year round, and let’s talk prostate cancer.
Careknowledge
For a number of years, I’ve written about social care and learning disability care for Pavilion titles such as CareKnowledge. This has included workforce and patient initiative articles, special reports, and conference coverage.
I’ve also worked with major healthcare organisations including the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Alzheimer’s Society, Royal College of Nursing, NHS Confederation and Bupa.
She’s produced numerous excellent articles for us
“Julie has worked with us at Doctors.net.uk for a couple of years now and has produced numerous excellent articles to help inform our audience of doctors. Her writing is engaging, clear and accurate, and she often goes a step further to secure that extra interview for added value in the pieces. Her communication is always first-rate. A pleasure to work with!”
Stephen Robinson, Managing Editor, Doctors.net.uk
